Italian fried bagel
Italian fried bagel, this fried food recipe is probably the most popular among Italian pastry ones.
It knows of childrens’ times, of festivities, as All Saints on 1st November or Carnival. It's an Italian food custom to prepare certain candies for special occasions.
During Carnival it is often served free, offered by the local community, during the public parades.
You’ll need:
• 2.2lb of wheat flour
• 4 eggs
• 4 table spoons of sugar
• Grated peel of 2 lemons
• 2 small bags of vanillin
• 0.22lb of lard
• 0.18lb of brewer's yeast
• 16.9oz of milk
• Salt
• A little bit of Anisette or Sambuca
How to do it:
Mix all the ingredients well, taking care of not leaving small balls of wheat or other. The better you work the dough, the better it will come.
Leave it rest for some hours, giving the time for the yeast to make the dough grow.
Then add abundant oil on a frying pan (or frying machine) and take small quantities with your hand and model it, making a hole in the center.
Fry them in both sides (paying attention as when cooking with oil, not to touch it often while frying, as the peel could smash and let oil go inside the bagel).
Take it out from the pan and put on absorbent paper. After a while transfer to a serving plate powdered with vanillin sugar.
Enjoy!
