Crostata

Crostata is one of those desserts that fits any situation. You can eat it after a meal, while taking a coffee, as a snack, anytime...

It is that kind of genuine homemade sweet, even if it's not always homemade, of course.

Italian jam crostata

It is also very simple to do, and while baking in your oven, will spread such a pleasant aroma that your neighbors will appear for a coffee.

You'll need:

• 400gr of wheat flour

• 200gr of butter

• 200gr of sugar

• 2 eggs

• grated peel of 1 lemon

• a bit of salt

• 300gr of fruit jam

How to do it::

Take a pan of about 20/22cm and spread butter on it. Then spread some wheat flour.

Put the wheat flour on a working table or top. Add the sugar and the salt, the butter and mix the more you can. Then shape it like a fountain and make a hole in its middle.

Put the eggs inside the hole and work it quickly. Leave it rest for 15 minutes.

In the meanwhile, take the jam, put it into a bowl and add some spoons of water, mixing it well. It helps not drying too much during the baking.

Take the pastry and enlarge it until covering abbundantly the pan, and separe a small quantity for decoration.

With the fingers make it adhere to the pan, specially along the boards. Put the jam inside taking care of distributing it well.

With the pasta you set apart prepare stripes that you put on the jam, forming the classical square design.

Put it into pre-heated oven at about 180°C for about 35/40 minutes. The crostata is ready when it becomes coloured.

tip: You can vary the topping as you want. You can use Nutella, apples (in this case you need to add some apricot jam over the apple to avoid it getting dry looking not so inviting).
