Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Which is the best extra virgin olive oil? Difficult to say, as olive oil is becoming more and more a niche product, with so many different characteristics that may lead to different "best ones", depending on each ones preferences for fruitness, acidity and other organoleptic properties.

What is a statement for sure is that olive oil definition includes many low quality products and it is always more important to learn about this product that can enhance our recipes and health.

Olive oil term is used in a wide way, including oils that originates from the olives, but are treated with chemicals and mechanical methods, being far from the best extra virgin olive oil we aim to consume.

To be called extra virgin, the olive oil has to be produced using no kind of heating process, nor chemical ones. In Italian it is called "spremitura a freddo" which means cold pressing. The olives are literally pressed using a special kind of squeezer.

After this first squeezing, most producers re-use the squeezed olives to obtain more oil. At this point it is necessary to use other methods as heating and chemicals to extract the oil that

is still inside the olives.

These are second choices products and can be called olive oil. These products are far from extra virgin olive oil in taste, quality and nutritional properties.

So next time you want to buy the best extra virgin olive oil, take care of checking if it is extra virgin olive oil and not just olive oil.

A good quality product is good to eat as it is. Pour some oil into a small bowl and dip a piece of bread, or carrot or any other vegetable and it will delight your palate.

I recommend a trustworth seller that, with great prices, deliver excellent quality extra virgin olive oil to your door. Figure out they have a choice from Sardinia, where I live!

They have some other qualities from Sicily and Tuscan, two great olive producers regions.
